This option complements the View Chart option by listing full details of all Lodges contained on the selected chart. Lodges are listed in numerical order for ease of reference and details provided are:-
Having selected this option from the Main Menu, the application will prompt the user to select the required chart. This is achieved by clicking on the downward arrow which appears in the dialogue box. A list will be displayed showing all valid charts contained in the database. By using the vertical scroll bar to the right of this list, the user is able to scroll through the list until the desired chart number is visible.
Click on the chart number required, which will then be highlighted and transferred to the box just to the left of the downward arrow. Note, however, that chart numbers will be restricted is a data filter is set. See Set / Reset Data Filter for further details.
Once the correct number has been selected using the method described above, Click the OK button. The application will then advise the user of the various actions being taken and will then display as much of the selected chart details as the users VDU screen will allow.
The total chart details may be viewed on screen by using the horizontal and vertical scroll bars on the viewing screen. For example, by clicking on the horizontal scroll bar, the chart details will move either left or right to display the remaining parts of the chart details in the horizontal direction. Similarly, the vertical scroll bar can be used to move the chart up and down in the window.
Alternatively, the View Chart Details button can be selected when on the View Record Details screen. This will avoid the need to return to the Main Menu in order to select the chart number as this is already known from the Lodge detail information being displayed.
The information on screen is colour-coded in order to highlight those Lodges which are still held on the Register of the United Grand Lodge of England (blue) and those which have been removed (red). An indicator ('x') is also provided to highlight Lodges which have been removed from the register to assist those working with monochrome VDUs and for compatibility with the printed output.
Due to the amount of information included for each chart, more than one page may be required. At the top left hand corner of the viewing screen, a menu bar will be visible containing the words :-
| Close | Next | Previous | Print Chart Details | View Chart |
|---|
If the word "Next" or "Previous" is shown in black, the user may click on the desired choice to move backwards and forwards through the various pages. If either of these is grey, this indicates the option is not available.
As an example, a single page of details will show both "Next" and "Previous" as grey (compare screen pictures). For multiple pages of detail, "Next" will be black and "Previous" will be grey when viewing the first page and the converse when viewing the last page.
For convenience, a "Print Chart" option is also included which allows the details on screen to be transferred to the printer. Alternatively, the details may be printed by returning to the Main Menu and selecting Print Chart Details.
The family tree chart may be viewed by selecting the View Chart option from the menu bar.
To return to the Main Menu, Click on the "Close" option when viewing any of the screen pages.
